INTERNATIONAL CHEFS DAY

  The future of the culinary arts is in the hands of new generations; with this event we hope to show
the important role chefs play in our societies and to inspire future chefs.

We encourage young men and women who are interested in the culinary arts to interact with the chefs and restaurant owners participating in this event.

Located in the heart of Boerne, Texas, our festival offers a culinary dining experience
where recipes from one country can very well be called Texan!
 
The festival "Welcome Center" will be located at 512 River Road, Boerne, Texas, next to Little Gretel Restaurant.
 
A festival recognition gift will be given to all patrons who purchase our delicious tapas or a full glass of wine from our kiosks.
The Food Kiosk will be serving samples of our Participants' menus.

We will be breaking our record from last year of nearly 40 feet!  All food from the shish-kabob is donated to guests of the event! So come hungry and bring your camera, this will be an event you won't want to miss.

Bake-A-Cake Contest:
Enter your own homebaked cake in our contest and have it judged by our celebrity Chefs.

The Bake-A-Cake contest is open to adult non-professional and professional bakers. (Two categories)

Entry fee: $25.00

Professionals are those individuals who have owned or been employed by a bakery and/or those who have received more than $500 in gross sales from sale of baked goods from their home or any other means. Once entered as a professional, participant remains in that category. All others will be considered non-professional.

 

- Entries must consist of 1 cake.

- Two ways to win: judging on appearance and taste.

- Cake entries must be made by one person, not a team.

- Applications need to be received no later than 6:00 p.m. on Sept. 30th.

- Cakes will be accepted from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Oct. 21st

-  Judging will begin promptly at 3:00 p.m.

-  The winners will be announced at the Festival awards ceremony at approximately 3:30 p.m. at the Welcome Center.

- Certificates will be awarded to all entries and will be given to those participants immediately after the awards ceremony.

Food Related Photo Contest:
Enter your best food related photograph taken during the festival.

The Photo Contest is open to all ages.

Entry fee: $20.00

 

- Entries must be in a JPEG file format.

- Photos must be taken during the DINE & WINE BOERNEFEST.

- They must be related to food, wine and/or festival activities.

-  Applications need to be received no later than 6:00 p.m. on Sept.30th.

-  Three photos of your choice must be emailed to littlegretel@gvtc.com by Thursday, Oct.27th.

- Winners will be notified by email and will be given an award following the judging of the entries by Oct.31.

- All photos submitted will become the property of  the DINE & WINE BOERNEFEST and may be used for the 2012 festival.

Pumpkin Carving Contest:
For All Ages: Carve your own pumpkin on-site and have it judged.

       Entries are open to all ages

       Entry fee: $5.00 cash

 

- One pumpkin per entry. Each pumpkin will be coded to identify its owner.

- Pumpkins will be provided.

- Bring your own carving tools.

- Contest will take place at the DINE & WINE BOERNEFEST location.

- Registration must be completed between 11:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

- Contest will begin promptly at 12:15 p.m. and pumpkins must be completed and returned for judging by 2:30 p.m.

- Completed pumpkins will become the property of the DINE & WINE BOERNEFEST and may be used as decorations at our participating restaurants and wine stores.

- Contest Winners will receive a gift certificate from one of our participants.
